Jason and Kathy are back where their journey began anew two years earlier, and things are not going well for Kathy. The research and development Jason began is now very much a part of her life. They are each working at separate facilities and have been apart for some time.
Unfortunately for them, their cutting-edge engineering efforts often end in explosive failures. After two such destructive events on the same day, one by each of them, Kathy has had enough of the isolation and the professional losses. She leaves her facility to go be with Jason at his. Due to an old nemesis, Kathy unexpectedly ends up chasing after Jason back to the Mars Research Colony complex. Once there, at the MRC, their reunion is not easy, nor pleasant.
In an effort to both reconcile their relationship and to send off an old friend soon departing, they reluctantly choose to take a break from their work and travel to a resort facility to enjoy some fun and relaxation. But the Universe intervenes in a deadly way, and once more, Jason and Kathy find themselves in an unexpected struggle for survival. As before, it will be an adventure filled with heartache and happiness, loss and love, and tears of sorrow and tears of joy.
