Résumé

Church Finance: Basic Understanding and Best Practices provides a down-to-earth interpretation of finance matters applicable to churches. It is for anyone with little to no experience in finance but who has a desire to learn the basics. Church pastors, finance leaders and lay members will find this book to be a great resource. It includes examples, best practices and illustrations to help simplify the subject matter.
Although Church Finance: Basic Understanding and Best Practices is written with the church in mind, other non-profits and small businesses will find it useful, as the forms, procedures and processes discussed are the same for all businesses. With more than 30 years of experience in the accounting field, Michael A. Pinkney has a passion for accounting, particularly within his faith community. Shortly after graduating from college, he began performing accounting, budgeting, and payroll tax functions for his church.
He also coordinated the VITA program - the IRS's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program - at his church. Michael has used his expertise as a certified public accountant to serve the church in several different capacities, from finance chairperson to church accountant. His knowledge and depth of experience have been crucial to the financial health of the churches he has served.
