Every cell in your body is right now emitting light. Not metaphorically. Not thermal radiation. Real, coherent, visible-wavelength photons, produced by the biochemical processes of living metabolism and propagating outward at the speed of light in tissue. In the autumn of 2019, in a darkened sub-basement laboratory in Hannover, a routine photon coherence experiment produced data that the existing physics vocabulary had no category for.
