Résumé
Apart from all the obvious political and humanitarian reasons why Israel-Palestine is such an intractable issue, there are also important religious aspects. This guide sensitively explores the diversity of Christian, Muslim and Jewish attitudes and approaches to the texts, histories and possible futures of The Land. It does not take sides, pronounce judgement or proffer solutions. Rather it seeks to equip readers and discussion groups with the religious background they need to better understand the current conflict. 'Hikmah' is an Arabic word for wisdom.
CMCS Hikmah Study Guides are an accessible way for the non-specialist reader to develop a wise understanding of complex and potentially controversial topics which Muslims and Christian encounter together. Each guide is written with input from both Christian and Muslim scholars and is intended to be non-partisan whilst not ignoring difficult or controversial issues and histories. The guides can be read by both specialists and non-specialists in the field and can also be used as conversation starters for small groups.
