Résumé

Yes, we are able to regain our childhood joy, and then some! Jesus says that we can even learn to leap for joy because someone lied about us. Now that is way above our childhood joy! (Luke 6:22, 23)Spiritual joy is the essence of Christianity. It is the pathfinder for what we ought to do! Jesus, the Apostle John and the Apostle Paul all said the purpose of their preaching was to help people be full of joy (John 15:11; II Corinthians 1:24; and I John 1:4).
Thus, spiritual joy is the highest value in the Bible. Love is our work (yes, love is work) and joy is our reward every time we follow the voice of Jesus (John 10:27). A happy life does not just happen. We need to be both strong and smart to have a happy life. This strength and intelligence comes only from implementing the teachings of the most transformational document ever written-the Bible! The Long-Needed Tearing Down of Everything! All relevant Biblical doctrine is obligated to explain the path of spiritual joy.
Since there is NOTHING, NADA, ZILCH, ZIPPO, NOT A SHRED of substance about joy in American theology, they are not relevant to anyone who needs God's joy or His love. Look at any church doctrine and see how joy is treated as an elusive mythical creature, if it is mentioned at all!The ancient Greeks were constantly concerned about "what it is that we ought to do." Again, there is not anything in church doctrines about what we ought to do.
And why should there be? Church fatal doctrines say, "Do whatever we tell you to do and believe whatever we tell you to believe." Godly ministers are NOT like that!  They do not intimidate their congregations, they are servants! They respect sound moral reasoning. In II Thessalonians 3:2, Paul prays that we would be delivered from unreasonable, bully preachers. Current American church doctrines say absolutely nothing about doing what the voice of Jesus tells us to do! Instead, they require everyone to check their reasoning faculties at the church door and never pick them up again.
These doctrines are all eternally fatal because "reason" is a necessity for salvation! "Reason" is solidly grounded as the necessary process for salvation in Isaiah 1:18. Most American churchgoers are altruists, on the outside of Christianity looking in. They dwell in fortresses of unreasonable ideas, doing whatever they think is right in their own mind. Seeking God and getting to know Him would just make them different from everyone else in their congregation.
Simply put, they are L-O-S-T, lost, because God does not draw His line between Christians and non-Christians; He draws His line between Seekers and Dwellers!Dwellers study the Bible only if they can continue to believe exactly what they already do believe. They will not welcome any new facts that would force them to revise their mind's picture of what exists.
