Antoine Mountain is from the Radelie Koe/Fort Good Hope area of the Dene Nation in Northwest Territories, Canada. He is a Dene artist, painter, and activist who focuses on depicting the Dene way of life, his love for the land, and the spiritualism of his faith. He has attended the Ontario College of Arts and Design for a Bachelor of Fine Arts, holds a Master's in Environmental Studies from York University, and is currently doing a PhD in Indigenous Studies at Trent University.
Mountain's appreciation for his art and community is reflected in his continuous exploration of his visual practice and his intention to use his voice and art to ensure that today's youth do not forget their Dene cultural roots and identity. Foreword writer Bonnie Devine is an Associate Professor at OCAD University and the Founding Chair of OCAD U's Indigenous Visual Culture Program. She is an installation artist, curator, writer, and educator, and a member of the Serpent River First Nation of Northern Ontario (Anishinaabe/Ojibwa).
From 2005 until 2007 she curated and organized -The Drawings and Paintings of Daphne Odjig: A Retrospective Exhibition"in collaboration with the Art Gallery of Sudbury and the National Gallery of Canada. Author and editor Julian Hobson CHt BHSC was born in Sheffield, UK, inheriting and developing the abilities of healing through his grandmother. He lives on the western slopes of the Rockies in the East Kootenays of B. C., sharing his time between his profession as a cardiac sonographer, his practice of hypnotherapy, and nature. Lorene Shyba PhD is publisher at Durvile & UpRoute Books and series editor of the Durvile True Cases series.
She is co-editor, with Raymond Yakeleya, of the Indigenous Spirit of Nature Series.
