Résumé
Between 1969 and 1985 the author spent the equivalent of 10 years in Papua New Guinea, both living there and during short trips. For 5 of these years he was on the staff of the University of Papua New Guinea, for one year he was undertaking research for his doctorate degree, and the other 4 years was made up of a series of trips, some of them for research funded from Australia and others working as a consultant on various aid programs.
During this period the author worked on a number of research projects looking at geology, landforms, soils, and volcanoes in PNG. He travelled to and lived in many parts of PNG, especially in the capital, Port Moresby, and in the PNG highlands. This book is a mainly light-hearted account of the author's various trips, the people he met and the landscapes and geology he saw.
