Caroline is on a mission to see the President of the United States to give a gift from the visitors. Even though she is not old enough to take a bus trip alone, implants in her brain give her unique abilities. She can read people breaking down the barriers people put up to hide the truth. In some cases, she can influence what people do. Will she become a reader for the visitors, travel to a secret base in New Mexico, or return home to poverty and a dysfunctional family?
