Résumé

Clément and his brother travel to Istanbul with the goal of finding the grave of Carole, the first born child of their maternal grandparents. Carole died shortly after her birth and just a few years before her parents, Armenians in Istanbul, would leave for France. Clément interviews his grandparents and his mother, aware that certain things are remaining unsaid. After numerous unsuccessful searches in Turkey, he begins to realize that what he and his brother have accomplished is a work of introspection rather than an investigation into an established fact.
A magnificent literary exploration-accomplished with visual flair-of our conscious and unconscious realities; of the influence relationships and family history hold over our psyches.

À propos des auteurs

After hesitating for a while about studying medicine, Clément Fabre plunged into cinema. He worked as a camera assistant for almost 10 years. In the mid-2000s, he added the initial C. to his name and reoriented himself towards comics. Initially, his projects arose from encounters, such as with Martin Page ("Le Banc de touche, " Warum!, 2012), Olivier Milhaud ("Explicite, " Delcourt, 2015), Fabien Grolleau ("Le Chantier, " Marabulles, 2018), Benoist Simmat and Aymeric Mantoux ("Révolutionnaires, " RobinSon, 2018), and Joseph Safieddine ("Salade tomate oignon, " Lapin, 2021).
With the latter and Thomas Cadène, he created "BFF" (Dupuis, 2019-2020), which was first published as a Webtoon and later earned them an Eisner Award nomination in 2021. In 2022, Clément worked on his first solo project, "Carole" (Dargaud; Europe Comics in English). In this graphic novel, he questions his Armenian-Turkish origins and the mystery of intergenerational transmission. Other than visual arts, Clément is passionate about 60's garage rock'n'roll and quantum physics. After hesitating for a while about studying medicine, Clément Fabre plunged into cinema.
