Beginning his career with First National Bank in 1995, he was later named one of the youngest business development managers in 1998, at the age of just 21. He then broadened his horizons working for Saambou Bank and FNB Credit. Working with his father in the agricultural industries, Dr Lemmer learnt everything related to flower farming-from fertilizers to pesticides and packaging. He left this industry after three years, and began registering companies from home.
Soon after, he took a position at Old Mutual, and later became an independent broker. During this time, he enrolled for his MBA. Although this was a very difficult period in South Africa, with an economic meltdown and world economies suffering, he completed it successfully. Dr Lemmer bought several companies, including florist shops and a restaurant. He also assisted other companies in growing their market shares.
SA Business Consulting was also founded during this time. Dr Lemmer studied towards a B. Th. degree and started a small church called Summit of God Ministries. In September 2015, Dr Lemmer finished his PhD in business administration-an achievement in a specialised field which very few South Africans can claim. Currently Dr Lemmer specialises in business restructuring, and his passion is seeing businesses develop.
