In the beginning, the world was covered in eternal darkness. Night (Ga) and Darkness (Gagen) lived in a cave with their three daughters: Mountains, Plains, and Waters. The trickster god Kaggen, appearing as a praying mantis, transformed into a hartebees to watch the daughters dance. Ga shot him, but Kaggen magically reassembled himself and escaped. When the daughters grew up, their mother gave each a sacred necklace that would ensure abundant food.
Kaggen's sons married the daughters, and they lived in paradise with plenty of water, food, and dancing-as long as they kept their necklaces.
