Résumé
BRUNO & OTHER STORIES OF OVERSIGHT is a collection of four short stories, ranging from crime to family drama, each involving a character who can't see what's right in front of them. After a botched heist, Lou waits nervously for crewmates in "The Motel". Only one, a distraught Maxine, arrives. They compare accounts of what went wrong, then begin planning their next move. There is one thing, however, that doesn't quite add up.
In "The Crest", everything goes wrong for Tom, a pub owner facing the busiest day of the year. His best employee, his son, has deserted him. The town drunk, Tom's former best friend, threatens to ruin the festivities. Tom built this pub with his deceased wife, and he'll do anything to protect this symbol of her memory. In "The Janitor", Jason, the eponymous custodian, relays his account of the previous night's robbery to two arrogant detectives.
He doesn't remember much, and the detectives probing does little to jog Jason's memory. It is the discovery of a key piece of evidence that fills in the blanks for the detectives. Finally, "Bruno" completes the collection. The eponymous character sits alone in front of a television on a football Sunday, when his daughter visits unexpectedly. She has important news to deliver, but connecting with her father proves difficult.
