After a chance meeting with Hank, a theology academic, she leaps at the chance to work as his research assistant. But over the weeks it becomes clear that Hank doesn't need help with his research - he needs someone to help his heavily pregnant wife Kate with her tradwife account. As her relationship with Tilly collapses and she moves into moves into Hank's remote farmhouse, Emily takes on more and more of Kate's role until it's hard for her to know where she ends and Kate begins.
