Résumé
The Blood of the Fields is a supernatural horror novel that follows a group of Black actors filming a movie about slavery on an old Louisiana plantation. The modern film set becomes a stage for a horrific reenactment of the past when the actors are possessed by the spirits of enslaved people who were massacred on the very same land in 1865. The vengeful spirits, who were killed by the plantation owner to prevent them from gaining their freedom after the Civil War, seek justice against their historical tormentor.
The situation intensifies when the actors discover that the film's white director is a direct descendant of the brutal plantation owner. The possessions grow more violent and deliberate as the spirits use the actors to deliver their long-awaited retribution. The story culminates in a fiery climax where the possessed actors hang the director from an ancient oak tree as the plantation burns to the ground, finally laying to rest the violent past that had haunted the land for over a century.
