Val is once again in a new world. This time, however, she's not alone. With Lou by her side, she's feeling a little more prepared to keep making progress with her ultimate mission: reunite with her friends. Heading out in this new world, Val is happy to put her worries of Warrick behind while she starts to embrace another fresh start and even lands a job at a busy pub to help keep her mind off things.
While working at the local pub, Val is happy to discover a couple of her friends while making some new ones. Everything is starting to look up for her - making progress with what she set out to do, a relationship that might actually last longer than a few months, and a sense of calm she hasn't experienced in a while. It quickly becomes apparent that not everything is as it seems. Since arriving in this new place, Val has been plagued with intense dreams, some of which end up coming true.
Not only that, but the cathedral looming over the main street emanates a dark presence. One, she later learns, is tied to another type of creature she thought only existed in the pages of her books. Everything starts tumbling down around her bringing out Val's worst side. Is this the world that breaks her?
