Blackwater Lake

In the shadowed depths of Blackwood Lake, the line between reality and something far darker blurs. Elias comes to the isolated cabin seeking silence-pure, restorative, free from the noise of the modern world. Instead, he finds a silence that is alive, dense, and watching. As days pass, the lake's reflection begins to shift, revealing a submerged city pulsing with unnatural life. Shapes and structures rise from the depths, and the boundary between water and land dissolves into a single, sentient entity.
 Elias's sketches, once mere studies of landscape, now betray a growing participation in the lake's strange consciousness. The more he observes, the more the lake responds-morphing, rearranging, calibrating. An ancient presence beneath the surface awakens, and Elias realizes he is no longer outside its reach.  As the boundary collapses, the lake's true nature emerges: a vast, living organism of water, stone, and light-an intelligence that has been waiting, watching, and learning for centuries.
