Résumé
King Jarla is in exile with his close friends and family, forced into hiding by a malignant power that has depleted his strength and brought destruction to the lands around. The resources they need to sustain their lives are running out, they cannot stay where they are but there seems nothing they can do. An ancient book is discovered buried in the desert and a young scribe is the only one who can read its mysterious script.
As the secrets of the book begin to reveal themselves to her she realises her life is in danger. She must leave behind all she has known and journey into empty lands with no idea of where she is going or why, led only by her connection with the strange text and with the unknown author who seems to communicate with her through its pages. An amateur mining company formed of misfits and drop-outs sets off in search of gold on the basis of a map they have acquired that may or may not be true.
There might be gold, there might be nothing but as go they begin to find their own reasons for the expedition and the journey will show them truths about who they are and what they really want.
