Résumé
Behind the Locked DoorsEvery day I follow the Blackwoods' strict rules. I clean the manor's grand halls. I prepare their meals. I stay out of the rooms they've forbidden me to enter. Victoria Blackwood is elegant, commanding, and terrifyingly meticulous. She watches my every move, waiting for me to make a mistake. Liam Blackwood, her charming but mysterious son, lingers in the shadows with secrets of his own.
And then there's the attic, always locked, its presence like a dark weight pressing on the house. I try to ignore the strange noises at night. The whispers I hear when I'm alone. The way the Blackwoods speak of the previous governess-always in hushed tones, as though they're afraid to say too much. But one night, I can't resist. I break one of their rules. I open a door I was told to leave alone. And what I find on the other side changes everything.
Now, I'm not sure who I can trust. The Blackwoods are hiding something dangerous. And as the walls of the manor close in on me, I realize they might not let me leave alive.
