Résumé

The Debutant's Mysteries are set in the 1850s with all the charm of the Victorian age with an added bit of mystery. Book one, Beckett's Treasure follows Catherine Brentwood's desire to find out who killed her brother and where the mysterious Beckett's Treasure might be hidden. Catherine Brentwood, or Katie, to her friends is an eighteen-year-old debutant obsessed with solving mysteries. She is the younger sister of three brothers; two natural, one adopted, and one younger sister.
Katie is normally a bright eyed, intelligent and happy young woman, who clamours for the next mystery novel, but today she is a little subdued and with good reason. Now, she has a true-life unhappy mystery of her own to puzzle out when the mystery of her murdered brother falls into her lap. Katie's brother, Pete was murdered in Ceylon while in the army, but he did not die on the battlefield. You see, he was attacked with no provocation by one of his own with almost five thousand men close by.
Yet, only my youngest of three brothers saw anything. How can that be? Isn't the army trained to notice things out of the ordinary?Join Katie, her brother, and their friends with a little help from Pete's journal on their quest to find the murderer and Beckett's Treasure.
