Beneath the cobbled streets of Dalt la Vila, Badalona's historic heart, signs of an extraordinary discovery begin to emerge. What initially appears to be a simple urban-planning matter ultimately reveals the existence of a far more ambitious project: Baetulo 2040. A powerful international corporation, Atlas Heritage Corporation, is working discreetly to control the future of the neighbourhood and exploit archaeological heritage of incalculable value.
But the pieces do not quite fit together. Jordi, a resident of Dalt la Vila, decides to investigate what lies behind these seemingly inexplicable developments. At his side are three exceptional allies: Nil, an artificial intelligence with whom he shares a unique collaboration; Neus, capable of understanding people where data cannot reach; and AN, an engineer from China who provides an essential technical perspective.
Together, step by step, they begin to reconstruct a plot involving heritage, economic interests, political power, technology and historical memory. Baetulo is not merely a mystery novel. It is also a story about trust, cooperation between human and artificial intelligence, and the defence of a legacy that belongs to society as a whole. With a measured yet steadily advancing narrative, relatable characters and a real setting recreated with great fidelity, the novel invites readers to walk through the streets of Dalt la Vila as they attempt to discover what lies hidden beneath its foundations.
