What's happening because of coronavirus is confusing, and that can be scary. That can also make people feel helpless, especially our kids. Avoid the Virus is a picture book with a fun 10 question quiz designed to help take away some of that feeling of helplessness. The book is meant to open up a discussion about ways that children can take some control by making decisions that can help protect them and their loved ones from catching coronavirus.
We follow 7-year-old Alex through a typical day of "sheltering in place" during the coronavirus pandemic. In the quiz, the child will have to make decisions about what Alex should do to help avoid catching coronavirus. This is the child's chance to become a Superhero to Alex! In order to protect Alex, they will need their virtual Superhero Shield! The more correct decisions that they make, the bigger their shield will be.
If their shield is big enough, they will protect Alex from the virus, and Alex will be safe! If their shield isn't big enough, Alex will be in danger of catching the virus. So, the book can be read again and again until the child earns the entire virtual Superhero Shield to help Alex Avoid the Virus!
