Résumé
For many families raising a child with autism and ADHD, school quickly becomes one of the most challenging parts of life. What may appear to be simple classroom expectations-sitting still, following instructions, completing homework, and getting along with classmates-can become daily struggles. Parents often discover that the school environment is built around learning styles that do not always match how their child thinks and processes information.
Teachers may see a child who is distracted, restless, or difficult to manage. Parents, however, often see a child who is intelligent, curious, and capable but overwhelmed by the demands of the classroom. This gap in understanding can create tension between families and schools. Autism & ADHD in Children - School, Learning, and Teachers was written to help parents bridge that gap. The purpose of this book is not to criticize teachers or the education system.
Most teachers want their students to succeed and work extremely hard to manage complex classrooms. The challenge is that many children with autism and ADHD require different approaches to learning and behavior. When parents understand how the school system works, they are better prepared to help their child succeed within it. Throughout this book, we will explore the most common challenges children face in school, including attention problems, learning differences, homework struggles, and discipline issues.
Just as importantly, we will discuss how parents can work with teachers and administrators to create solutions. Education should not be a constant battle between parents and schools. When both sides communicate clearly and work together, children have a much better chance of developing the confidence and skills they need to succeed. The goal of this book is simple: help parents guide their child through the school system with understanding, patience, and effective advocacy.
