Résumé
Eleven deployments. No casualties. No mission left unfinished. Riven Hale intends to keep it that way. The Parallax Vanguard is an elite four-person unit trained to enter places where reality has stopped following ordinary rules. Alongside the analytical intelligence ORACLE-7, Riven, Brox Harlan, Kaz Dhar, and parallax-sensitive specialist Keira Ren recover survivors, investigate dimensional anomalies, and navigate environments in which geometry, gravity, and matter can change without warning.
Their newest assignment is officially classified as low risk: locate six survey personnel who disappeared inside the Solen Plateau and retrieve their data. But the team's beacon is transmitting from two locations at once. As the Vanguard approaches, the supposedly minor anomaly expands into a violent Class-3 event. The air burns without combustion. Trees, rocks, and entire sections of terrain occupy multiple positions simultaneously.
Gravity shifts direction, phase boundaries move with apparent intention, and the zone reacts to the incoming dropship as though recognizing an intruder. Forced down inside the instability, the Vanguard discovers that the missing explorers did not simply become lost. Some have been absorbed into repeating phase cycles, held between physical states by a system operating beneath the plateau. Their leader, Dr.
Maren Voss, found a way inside an ancient nonhuman facility-and became part of the restoration process awakening it. The structure is not a ruin. It is a node. Built by an intelligence that understood dimensional physics beyond anything humanity has achieved, the facility contains an archive, a planetary network, and a message preserved for whoever arrived when the system returned to operation. Keira's unusual sensitivity allows her to perceive what the machines cannot: other nodes buried across Earth are beginning to wake, and the signal transmitted from the plateau has already received a reply.
While Riven races to recover Voss, preserve the alien data, and lead her team through a collapsing reality field, evidence emerges that the Solen Plateau was underclassified long before the survey team vanished. Missing records, altered assessments, and unexplained decisions suggest someone within Command may have known more than the Vanguard was told. Surviving the zone will only complete the mission.
Understanding what has answered may determine whether humanity survives what comes next. At The Edge Of Stability launches The Parallax Vanguard, a hard science-fiction military thriller of elite teamwork, dimensional anomalies, alien technology, institutional secrecy, impossible rescue operations, and a universe preparing to bring humanity into a conflict it does not yet understand.
