Résumé

It's 2005. Blogs are becoming a thing, flip phones are the epitome of texting tech, and AOL still mails out those freebie trial discs. They're also tough times in Detroit, especially for Hamtramck girl and part-time tech blogger Toni Dzielny. Within days, she's lost her job, has to swear off coffee, and finds out her mom has been hiding a serious illness so as not to worry her. As if that weren't enough, a close friend is murdered less than two miles from her house.
And the fact the police consider her a "person of interest" doesn't bode well. So when the real murderer threatens Toni and her family, she's had enough. With the help of her geeky friends, they not only discover the motives behind her friend's murder but also a secret that could save her sick mother's life.
Rob Steiner lives in Atlanta, Georgia, with his wife, daughter, and a rascal cat. He is the author of the Journals of Natta Magus series, about a wizard from an alternate twenty-first century who is stranded in Augustan Rome. Orson Scott Card's Intergalactic Medicine Show featured two stories about Natta Magus: "The Oath-Breaker's Daemon" and "The Cloaca Maxima."He also wrote the alt-history/space opera Codex Antonius series (Muses of Roma, Muses of Terra, and Muses of the Republic) about a Roman Empire that spawns an interstellar civilization.
