Résumé

The Apple Secure Enclave Processor is a special purpose microprocessor that is designed to secure data and provide other security-related functions. This book provides an overview of the hardware and software components of the Secure Enclave Processor and explains how it works. Secure Enclave is used to securely store biometric data used by Face ID and Touch ID. T-Series chips that manage Secure Enclave are operated by bridgeOS.
Secure enclave also has a separate, dedicated boot ROM containing firmware called sepOS. The use of Secure Enclave by iPhones, iPads, and Macs is comparable to new TPM requirements being adopted by Microsoft in 2021 for Windows 11. The Secure Enclave Processor is designed to store information securely, so that it can't be accessed by other applications or processes running on the device. This means that even if an attacker were able to break through the operating system and gain root access, they would still not be able to access your fingerprint or face data stored in the Secure Enclave Processor. The Secure Enclave Processor is a new technology that Apple has introduced with the release of the iPhone 7.
This processor will be used to securely store biometric data used by TouchID and FaceID. Apple's Secure Enclave Processor is a new level of security for biometric data, which has been a major point of concern with recent developments in mobile technology. The introduction of this processor has allowed Apple to continue to offer advanced security features without compromising on user experience. In this book, Umair Akbar reviews and does a deep dive into the intricacies of Apple's Secure Enclave Processor.
