Résumé

"The dragon had seen him and reared up in anger. Frodo couldn't believe how big it was - easily as big as a longship, and like a longship it had a fat belly tapering towards a slender neck which carried a head the size of a whale. It opened its wings for balance. Like two huge sails they were, but ribbed like a bats..." This collection of stories and poems is the first in a series of three books which are the by-product of many years of study of Anglo-Saxon literature and language.
Between them the stories cover the period from first wave of migration in c. 449 to the end of Anglo-Saxon England with the Norman Conquest in 1066 and include stories about the most popular Anglo-Saxon heroes and events, such as Hengest, King Alfred, Haldane, the Battle of Maldon and the Battle of Hastings. They also include material from the common Germanic stock, such as the legends of Beowulf, Frodo and Starkath.
