Résumé

Chief Inspector George Bracke should have every reason to enjoy life. His daughter Julie has just given birth to Saartje, making him a grandfather for the first time, and for once his family matters more than police work. But Ghent has other plans. A violent bank robbery escalates into a hostage crisis. A group of desperate criminals are on the run. And somewhere in the city, Greta - lonely, unpredictable and increasingly detached from reality - is fighting her own private battles against a world she believes has ignored her for far too long.
Then an even more dangerous shadow returns from Bracke's past. Juan Botero is free. The man whose name Bracke hoped never to hear again has unfinished business, and this time the confrontation is intensely personal. As separate lives and crimes begin to collide, Bracke is drawn into a chain of events in which violence, obsession and desperation come dangerously close to his own family. And Then Nothing More is the seventh George Bracke thriller: a dark, fast-moving crime novel set in and around Ghent, combining police intrigue with black humour, flawed characters and an increasingly personal battle between Bracke and a man who refuses to disappear from his life.
The novel can be read as a standalone thriller, while continuing the story of George Bracke from Botero, Tango Mortale, Cold Fire, Kismet, Heavy Water and The Malt Mystery. Author and journalist Stefaan Van Laere has been publishing since 1988. His work has appeared in several languages, including Dutch, English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish and Italian.
