Résumé

David Arthur Walters objects to violence because he has a violent streak himself and something else within him does not want to suffer or cause others to suffer harm. He objected to the violent course the United States and its allies took after the terrifying attack on the World Trade Center on 11 September 2001 as is evident in some of the articles collated in this book, in such a manner that social media patriots called for his beheading for sedition.
Time has proved him right. The war in Afghanistan was finally lost in 2022, and its people have been left in a more deplorable state than before it began.    We may hope that war whether won or lost somehow leads to the progress of civilization, perhaps to the conclusion that it should never be waged. The same is said of all violence, yet the progress of civilization had not arrived at the happy conclusion, that of peace, wherefore catastrophic wars, bloody revolutions, violent anarchy, and domestic violence in families continues apace to mutual destruction.
After all, there is a tendency in some humans to enjoy murder as much as sex, and there is said to be special homicide brothels in Asia where people can relieve themselves of their sadism on slaves purchased for the purpose. However that may be, readers on both sides of the question may find the author's unschooled understanding of patriotism, war and violent anarchism edifying enough to forestall it.    "Anarchy" (without a ruler), by the way, is an ancient term that became popular in England during the Civil War.
Well over a century has now passed since an anarchist's hand was accidentally blown off by a bomb he carried near the Royal Observatory in London. Ideological justification for violent propaganda by deeds supposedly motivated by hatred of government in itself had already been formulated in Russia. Emperor Alexander II was assassinated by anarchists in 1881. Anarchists were allegedly responsible for the 1886 Haymarket Square bombing in the United States.
Ideal anarchism would rid populations of government by pacific means so that people would live happily ever after with it. The problem with real anarchism is that anarchists would like to rule by violent means once government is overthrown.    That contradiction is addressed in the first chapter of this book, in regards to the infamous Unabomber, who was captured, tried and convicted in the United States.
Further chapters provide other reasons for organized violence. Articles include: The Real Anarchist, In Defense of Assholes, Father Baboon's Independence Day Speech, A Frustrated, Pacifist's Apology for War, A Patriotic Synopsis, The American Cyclops , What Would Christ Have, Done After 9/11? Historical Notes On Militant Jihad, The Gloomy Gospel Of Christian Realism , On, The Selfish Theory Of Love, Presidents' Day 2003, On Being American Again, KABOOM! Sequel to The Real Anarchist

À propos de l'auteur

Biographie de David Arthur Walters

David Arthur Walters is an independent journalist who lives in the South Beach area of Miami Beach, Florida. David Arthur Walters is a poor man's writer-wunderkind who takes on the philosophical big guns of our age with sleight-of-hand logic and epistemological flourishes worthy of Foucault. But don't let that fool you. In a pinch he can write a play based on La Dame aux camellias, no doubt inspired by Dumas, and render sidewalk chalk-art tres chic after Picasso.
Baudelaire could easily have been his drinking buddy if we were to imagine time in reverse, which Mr. Walters compels us to consider through the Ouspenskian lens of Eternal Recurrence and other stuff worthy of a Dali painting a la melting clock faces. Herein lies the genius of David Arthur Walters, jack of all trades and master jester of Nan, that far-off land in which lived the holy fool of William Blake's prodigious imagination.
Writer, dancer, word-artist, satirist, and clown, David Arthur Walters brings it all to the page, compelling us to wave our hand-fans in astonishment at the nerve of the man, the impropriety, the utter genius of his whackadoodle mind. May his works live on in the annals of Time! (Melina Costello, Author of Seeking the God of Ecstasy: A Spiritual Journey of Sexual Awakening, Tutti-Frutti Town: Blinky Blueberry Finds A Friend)
