An Ornamental Christmas

Black Friday is a pretty good description of Bailey Baker's mood.  She just broke up with her boyfriend, Dylan O'Malley, and doesn't want to go back home.  She finds herself alone, sitting in a '50s diner, trying not to feel heartbroken over losing a guy who was too dominant and too dumb to ever deserve her. She's really not in the mood when a waitress interrupts her introspection to tell her to pick an ornament from the tree, but Bailey agrees to do so.
 One decoration stands out, begging to be picked; a solitary bauble shining in a single beam of light. Back in her booth, Bailey listens to sad songs from the jukebox... until she hears someone talking.  Could the voice be coming from the ornament?  The answer comes when the Christmas tree and sign post slip away to reveal a living room with a man sitting on a couch, waving.  Bailey learns he is Matthias Harrison, who lives in Mistletoe Heights, which is a town similar to made-for-TV Christmas movies.
 It has to be a hallucination... right?One thing is certain; Bailey needs to break free from Dylan, so she begins a series of one-night stands.  But, rather than finding the peace of mind she craves, there is only frustration with each encounter. Matthias seems to be the only person she can trust, especially when Dylan asserts his claim on her, despite the break-up.  She and the man in the ornament grow closer, but Bailey becomes more dominant, and Matthias' world "fades to black", making intimacy problematic.
