Virtues like self-control are (1) hard to achieve, requiring extreme diligence and patience, and (2) the more the better - for civilization and for ourselves. Vices like the practice of bodily autonomy are (1) easy to achieve, on the path of least resistance, requiring no diligence, and (2) the more the worse - for civilization and for ourselves.
