Résumé
This book is the English version of the original volume, Albert Einstein in der Schweiz. It is not a direct translation, but a parallel text for English speakers, although some of the references and plaques remain in German.
Einstein was born in Ulm in Germany, but lived a lot of his life in Switzerland where he went to school and university, married and had two sons. As well as in Zurich, Einstein lived in Bern, where he worked in the Patent Office, he also spent time in Aarau, Winterthur and Schaffhausen.
It was in Switzerland that he developed his Special Theory of Relativity. As a result, the Swiss have taken the physics genius to their hearts, and there are many commemorative plaques, street and square names and even two museums, that have been named after him since his death.
