'Stunning, Strange, & Surprising Facts' that appears on the cover of this book (kind of as a subtitle) should make it abundantly clear what this book is about. It is a book for the CURIOUS - for folks that are inquisitive, those that like intrigue. 'Believe It or Not' was an alternate title considered for this book (but that phrase, alas, is now fraught with 'complications'). But I am sure that if you have got this far .
you already have a very good feel as to what this sets out to OFFER YOU. This book is chock full of amazing (even arresting & scintillating) facts about Acadia for your entertainment, regalement and enchantment. There are over 200 FACTS (-- probably even 250). At the same time, this book will also enhance your appreciation and knowledge of Acadia. Now, when driving along the fabled 'Ocean Drive' you will know that the granite blocks that border the road have quite the amusing name.
You will know that while every sunrise seen from atop Cadillac Mountain is special, you cannot experience 'first sunrise over mainland U. S.' from Acadia during the summer. It is also not the case, contrary to all you may have heard or hear, that Acadia was the first National Park east of the Mississippi. 2016 was also not the centenary of the Park! Plus 'Cadillac' is a fake title. Also, what is deemed Maine's 'First Lake' is in Acadia.

A warning, however. This book could make you a repeat visitor (like the author who visits at least twice, each year, and has done so for well over a decade). The back cover of this book talks about how Acadia's magic is due to synergy, and how this book adds to that to enhance the joy of your 'Acadian Experience'. The Preface, on the other hand, asks you to imagine Acadia as a yummy apple pie, with this book as the rich, premium topping that makes it into an irresistible à la Mode.
