ABAGUSII GENEALOGYFacts of a Community Preserved for Future GenerationsAbagusii belong to the larger Bantu people of East, Central and South Africa and their origin from Misri according to their several narrations which concur with other Bantu people. Mogusii and his wife, Nyakomogendi had three sons, Mouru (Mobasi), Mochorwa (Mogirango) and Ibabe (Mosweta) whom all Abagusii trace their origins to.
Kintu begot Ribiaka who got Kigoma (Kiboma) who begot Mulyuya who begot Osogo (Osongo) who begot Mogisu, Mogikoyo, Momeru and Mogusii (twin brothers), see genealogical chart somewhere else in this book. As Abagusii were migrating from their present location they crossed many rivers, plains, shrubs, forests, swamps and when a female child was born while crossing the river the child could be named Kwamboka meaning crossing, Moraa when the child was born where there was miraa shrubs, Kerubo (swamp), Kemunto (ekemunts).
These names have become to be known as the Abagusii original female names which are very common in the Abagusii community.
