English reader at level A2.1. Part of a series of readers ranging from level A1 to C2. In this story, Scrag, a street-smart dog in a UK city, survives alone until he befriends a kind girl, Lila, who names him Max. After finding and caring for a puppy named Pip, the two dogs form a pack. Facing dangers from people and dog catchers, they eventually find shelter. Reunited with Lila at an animal shelter, Max and Pip are finally adopted and find a loving home.
