As a young child, Shauna O'Malley is made to physically suffer at the hands of up-and-coming London gangster Davey Wiseman. When the man kills not only her mother but inadvertently her baby sister as well, Shauna is placed into care. Almost twenty-one years later, Shauna sets out for revenge. Her heart burns with vengeance, but her target is now a serious player and far more unscrupulous than she is.
Initially, things go well, and Shauna almost succeeds, but after Davey is imprisoned and sentenced to fifteen years, she is, on Davey's orders, kidnapped and held in a dark, windowless basement.
