A Reversal in Chennai Revisited

With "A Reversal in Chennai Revisited", Berndt Schuster describes how the outwardly successful life of a married father and Washington-based American mover and shaker goes to pieces when the media discover he is involved in an ill-advised affair with an interpreter in the entourage of a visiting diplomat from a Foreign country. It will be a development setting his life on a far different trajectory. Divorced and disgraced from the wife he genuinely loves despite the affair, he is demoted to a position on the other side of the world in Chennai's US Consulate. And finds only more disgrace when his loneliness and need for a comforting female in his life draws him to a most unlikely source - as well as highlighting certain weaknesses of character that had been lying dormant inside him. That source being the Indian female supplied by an agency to act as his housekeeper and be his domestic support-system. A woman as unlike his wife, or any of the other beauties he had known before marriage, as early-morning is to late-evening. And a woman, along with her friend, who recognises that "Dormant weakness" and decides to turn what she sees to her own advantage by satisfying it in a way  giving everyone what they wanted. Even if, for one of them anyway, the outcome is something of a shock. Believable fantasy in the female-led and psychological style, for those readers with a preference for exercising the imagination with the help of believable and character-driven plotlines.
