Résumé

Madelene is cursed. Her mother died while birthing her, and her father has never forgiven her for it. Forced to live a life of solitude as penitence, Madelene just wants to feel loved. But when she gives in to her desires, her father sends her to the one place that can restrain her-an asylum. Simon makes bad people pay for their actions, and the asylum workers who abused his sister are next on his list.
But when he interrupts their torture of another woman, his revenge has to wait. He can't just leave her there to suffer.  Madelene willingly goes with her rescuer, even if he is threatening to murder her abusers. But he's not violent with her. He's kind, caring, and sees her as something no one else ever has. A woman. But Simon is an assassin, not a husband, and has no business falling in love. After taking so many lives, he will inevitably end up murdered or at the end of a noose.
He has a choice to make-send Madelene away to protect her, or keep her close to protect his heart?
