Résumé

What are the mysteries of the universe compared to a love that burns bright no matter what? The months have flown by for Mary Bright. Her two adoptive children have filled her schedule and are thriving in their new home. Keeping the lively household running has made her days busy, and partnering the handsome, driven inspector on cases when she has a chance has given her a sense of independence, but she needs.
more. The balance in life has gone off, and perhaps reconnecting with her husband will help. Gabriel Bright's talents in private inspecting and deduction on cases for clients has been in high demand ever since All Hallow's Eve of last year when he and Mary caught a serial killer. Now that May Day is fast approaching, he needs some downtime with his enchanting and still captivating wife. When a fortuitous invitation to spend May Day celebrations at his brother's country estate arrives, he accepts with alacrity, even more so when his son, Henry, has offered to take the children for a week. What should have been a relaxing holiday in the country turns into a mystery, for Mary receives flowers from an unknown admirer.
Inspector Bright's annoyance regarding said person grows as the gifts continue. Is it a May Day prank or something more maddening? While trying to solve the mystery, sneaking about his brother's estate leads to heated encounters between Mary and Bright. During one such outing, they stumble upon something quite incredible, but they might need more than heavenly signs and wonders to smooth out this temporary rough patch.
