Résumé

My name is Somau Daniels, and this is my memoir. A memoir of my life back in my home country, Somalia, and the neighboring Djibouti. I was kidnapped by terrorists, when they came to my village. They murdered our parents on their first voyage of slaughter, five years before I was taken. They murdered many, who did not want to accept their forced upon lifestyle, they raped many, and killed many more.
I lost my brother, my father, my mother and my home when they came, and even the boy I loved, but at the end. God has made us to smile. My little brother's name is, Jemah. He is a year younger than me. I believe finding our way back home, has been a long journey. It is easy to lose yourself, in the moment. Through it all, we have to remember, anger consumes, and it kills, but the worst thing about it, is that, it kills the one who stays angry, slowly, you start to die inside.
You know you are dying, but there is no remedy, except to let go. This is how we escaped a life of hell, and gloom, and guess what, my nephew was born in that camp, so it is a bitter sweet experience. One I will tell all about, welcome to my memoir, and please share your thoughts of this book, I give you. A Long Way Home.
