Résumé

We can choose to stay inside, safe and secure from the world, the beehive of humanity, or we can step out of the shadows into the light and participate in the 'Great Play'. Wearing yourself on your sleeve and willingly being part of the collective. As a street photographer I like to get to know people better and in a moment capture their honest and vulnerable self which definitely enriches my soul in the making of a connection.
Like any art can I guess. These streets are in the East and offer extra insights for those of us in the West who have not trodden them yet. I would like my photographs to say that humanity is a beautiful thing and the cohesion that religion brings, brings out the best in us. Some people think of God as a super power who opens and closes doors but I prefer to think that/ know that we are all made in the image of God and this gives us the courage and heart to keep acting in the play of light and shade with hope and dignity. You can choose to flick through the pages quickly as you look for something that CATCHES your eye or you can stop for a few seconds and walk n their moccasins.
A picture has the ability to do this if you have the peace of mind. For decades I have struggled with digital image overload but now I am at peace with my few humble images because the people are real. Their dreams, fears, loves and struggles are very real. And to see your fellow images of God going about their lives in very similar ways to your own is comforting on a monumental scale. I have added words to slow down the page flickerers giving them a second chance to meditate, be mindful and care about other fates than their own so they can care about yours.
