Résumé

Private investigator Callie Webber heads to the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina to give away a million dollars on behalf of her mysterious employer's J. O. S. H. U. A. Foundation. While there, for the first time since her beloved husband, Bryan, passed away three years ago, Callie will revisit the mountaintop vacation cabin they shared as newlyweds. She'll also be spending time with Bryan's extended family-who knows nothing about her burgeoning new romantic relationship with her boss, Tom.
The donation she has come to deliver will go to a pair of charities that serve migrant apple pickers. But when one of the migrant workers turns up dead, it's up to Callie to find out who killed him and why-even as the killer targets her as the next victim. As she grapples with the heartbreaks of her past, Callie must put her trust in God to forge a new and different kind of future. But she'll have no future at all unless she can elude the killer and solve the murder before it's too late.
