Résumé

A senseless accident on a cold Winter's day will fatally shatter the lives of one young couple, while hundreds of miles away, another couple is torn apart by domestic violence.      After suffering years of vicious abuse at the hands of her brutal husband, Kate Avery will flee with her small children, only to cross paths with a troubled man on the verge of suicide.     This chance meeting between these two strangers sparks a new beginning for each of them, and as time heals their wounds, the hope of a new love soon blossoms.      Set against the backdrop of the majestic Appalachian Mountains, in a small, rural West Virginia town, Kate and this man will fall deeply in love and embark on a new life together.
However, a darkness from Kate's past emerges, filled with malice and rage, and she will be forced to confront her greatest terror of all.     A single act of violence will leave Kate clinging to life in a coma, and with their future hanging in the balance, she and her new love will face losing their second chance at happiness.
