Résumé
Confronted by an abusive father during an investigation, altruistic social worker, Ethan Harper, kills the man in self-defense. After years of strictly adhering to the laws and practices necessary to do his job at Child and Family Services, his moral compass is altered when realizing what he can accomplish outside the law. Cleared of any wrongdoing in both the company's and law's eyes, he begins to struggle with feelings of both guilt and appreciation.
He is further pushed in the wrong direction when holding himself responsible for the death of a child in one of his cases. Gradually, with each new case, he pushes the boundaries of acceptable behavior to prevent the loss of another child. When Ethan's own daughter is nearly abducted by a deranged pedophile, he dispenses his own violent justice to ensure the safety of other children. His actions inadvertently attract the attention of both Chase, an FBI Special Task Force agent, and Roger, a serial child molester.
While hiding the truth from the law to avoid going to jail and losing his beloved career, Ethan's family becomes a target as Roger pursues a personal vendetta against him. Despite the consequences of his actions, Ethan never forgets that when the law fails, he's every child's last hope.
