A Chance Encounter

Samantha Winslow was a rising star in the cutthroat world of corporate law. Her keen intellect and tireless work ethic had propelled her through the ranks at Thompson & Reed, one of the most prestigious firms in New York City. While her colleagues envied her meteoric ascent, Samantha's personal life was a barren landscape of endless billable hours and solitary late nights at the office.  When an unexpected health scare forced Samantha to take a mandatory leave of absence, she reluctantly traded the steel and glass canyons of Manhattan for the quaint seaside village of Willow Bay.
Determined to recuperate quickly and return to the career she had sacrificed everything for, Samantha arrived in the sleepy coastal town with a cynical chip on her shoulder. Her ill-humor began to fade when she had a chance encounter with Owen Chambers, a ruggedly handsome fisherman who had lived his entire life in Willow Bay. Owen embodied the laidback, contented spirit that defined the local community.
As he gave Samantha a tour of the picturesque harbor and introduced her to his circle of warmhearted friends and neighbors, she felt the tightness in her chest slowly uncoil.  Over the following weeks, Owen became Samantha's guide to the simple pleasures she had deprived herself of for so long - bonfire-lit evenings on the beach, homemade clam chowder at the dockside diner, and peaceful early morning rows across the mirrorlike bay.
With each new experience, Samantha's tough exterior softened, allowing the beginnings of a genuine smile to grace her lips.
