Incomplete Collaboration: Asymmetrical Responsibilities between Art and Society (Korean and English Edition) reexamines the recurring language of participation, collaboration, and community in contemporary art. Rather than idealizing collaboration as a harmonious and balanced relationship, it investigates the unequal conditions under which it actually takes place, and how its outcomes and responsibilities are unevenly distributed among those involved.
Drawing on the project 7oe (2014-2019) and field-based practices spanning Korea and Indonesia, author Sunyoung Oh carefully unpacks the tensions, interventions, forms of distancing, and questions of responsibility that emerge where art meets society. The book does not present collaboration as a definitive answer or model. Instead, it asks what remains after collaboration ends-and how we might understand the responsibilities that persist.
