HONESTY
The Garden Gnomes have been living on the Pearl Islands for almost 200 years. They believe that taking care of nature is their sacred duty and have turned their island home into a lush, green oasis, filled with food and life. They teach their children this love of nature by having them fulfill five requirements when they turn seven in order to earn their Garden Gnome hats and become an official member of society.
The first requirement is to make a public declaration in front of family and friends that they have found something in nature that they will love and care for the rest of their lives. Jeffrey's Declaration Day is tomorrow and he still hasn't found that one thing in nature he wants to claim. Should he choose something he doesn't love just to please his dad or should he be honest and risk losing his place in society? Ten chapters, approximately 16, 000 words
