Even on the island of the monstrous Cyclopes, Polyphemos has always stood alone. He jealously tends his sheep and guards his home, keeping his friendlier neighbors away with crude insults and practical jokes. So when a shipload of mortal men led by the Achaean Noman shows up in his cave demanding hospitality, he does what any reasonable monster would: he makes a meal of them. "Polyphemos" is a short retelling of the Cyclops scene from Book 9 of Homer's Odyssey from Polyphemus's voicy, acidly humorous point of view.
