The Refugia
Could it be? Arak interrupted his mainstreaming thoughts. This man Delaplane, he has hurled himself forward in Time? Preposterous, mused Arak, the very thought is preposterous. If Time is a function of the speed of light and light goes x distance in y time then it is impossible to get off that Time length at point A in Time traveled and jump ahead or behind...isn't it? B, Z or wherever? Simply exit your own Time frame...isn't that what this suggests? The only way to do that would be to exceed the speed of light.
Or negate it by exceeding light speed altogether and somehow make a direct energy transfer to any point and therefore completely subvert the concept of Time in light speed. So Time is not a measurement at all. It can't be measured. And if it cannot be measured Time itself does not exist other than a concept for linear ordering. Could he do that? Is it possible for any being at all? Or any thing? He has initiated and accessed a NonLocal event engaging his own intent? It must be! No, it could be.
But how very extraordinary. Life is extraordinary! Whoever conceived of a man flying? A message in the first person singular whispered, I must be losing my mind! It can't be. Humans don't fly! It is a physical impossibility. Nonlocal time travel and a flying man! went the whisper. Arak froze as the whisper dragged the thought from recessed sub to full conscious. He even looks like me! Arak ran from the room, his mind hammering, Nothing is for real!
