Rupert is the mayor of Crossroads, a prairie dog town in Elkview on Colorado's Front Range-and he's far more intelligent than humans realize. When the Elkview City Council votes to commercialize Crossroads for natural gas development, Rupert and his friends find themselves in a battle they cannot win alone.
