Henry Arden

When Jewish butcher Emmerich Baumann is torn from his wife and daughter at Auschwitz, he is sent into the darkest corner of the camp, where survival demands the unimaginable. Ordered to count the dead, Emmerich is handed a ledger. Instead of recording only numbers, he begins preserving the one thing the Nazis cannot afford to leave behind: names. Every entry is an act of defiance. Every page is a risk.
